CHICAGO, IL — This year, Chicago is set to host the most engaging media innovation event of the year: Media Party Chicago 2023. From June 8–10, the Polsky Exchange Center will become a global hub for journalists, designers, entrepreneurs, and tech experts, sparking innovative dialogues on artificial intelligence, democracy, and the future of media.

Powered by Hacks/Hackers, Media Party is not your typical conference. For three days, attendees will dive into a hands-on exploration of cutting-edge trends and practices in journalism and media innovation. Having established a decade-long legacy in Buenos Aires, Media Party is now launching its first-ever edition in Chicago, fostering meaningful conversations that will shape the media landscape.

Media Party will feature more than 80 speakers, trainers, and developers from around the world, including Miranda Marcus, head of the BBC News Lab; Nima Boscarino, ethical developer at Hugging Face, the leading open-source AI platform; Jennifer Brandel, CEO at Hearken; Rishad Patel from Splice Media; and Aime Rinehart from Associated Press.

Beyond traditional panels and keynotes, the three-day conference emphasizes collaboration and innovation. Day one commences with international keynote speakers, a media fair showcasing groundbreaking projects, and tailored workshops for attendees across content, tech, and business backgrounds. The day concludes with engaging lightning talks, focusing on innovative problem-solving strategies within the media landscape.

Day two provides further opportunities to learn from global industry leaders through insightful talks and workshops, while simultaneously developing ideas for the hackathon. On the final day, attendees participate in this hands-on hackathon, fostering active collaboration on transformative projects.

Media Party Chicago 2023 not only catalyzes innovation but also builds a community. Nightly parties, breakfasts, and lunches offer ample opportunities for networking and fostering lasting relationships.

With the backing of the Knight Foundation, Google News Initiative, International Center For Journalists, and Knight Lab from Northwestern University, Media Party Chicago 2023 is set to redefine the media landscape. Ally organizations such as News Product Alliance, Open News, Creative Commons, Chi Hack Night, and Content Authenticity Initiative further fortify this dynamic event.

In reflecting on the evolution and impact of this unique event, Mariano Blejman, founder of Media Party, shares:

“For over a decade, Media Party has been a conference that transforms the minds of its participants while simultaneously modifying the ecosystem of digital media innovation in Latin America with global impact. It’s a sort of accelerator for ideas, contacts, and long-lasting relationships. We believe that there is a space to not only bring different communities together, but also use idiosyncrasies to solve relevant problems. We like the idea of the media industry, technology, and small businesses all discussing and building in one forum. It can be difficult to come together to think and learn, but it’s even more challenging to come together to take action. And that’s the role of Media Party, to facilitate connections, and to turn them into fun and productive ones.”

Registration for Media Party Chicago 2023 is now open. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this innovative event that’s pushing the boundaries of media and technology. For more information, including the full conference schedule and speaker lineup, visit mediaparty.org.
